‘Knights Camera Action’

‘Knights Camera Action’

by Garry Gardiner / Tuesday, 11 November 2014 / Published in

Knights Camera Action. 2011 was everything it promised to be from the early season. A number of European members from Unik Star came across to participate, along with a number of ex members and new members joining the ranks.
Black Knights entertained the masses once again brought well-known popular music to the field, with another exciting visual package to match. The group explored the red carpet – Paparazzi (Lady Gaga), celebrations – Hey Ya (Will Young and Outkast), the Family Portrait – Make you feel my love (Adele) and finally the use of CCTV in the modern world – Various music from Biffy Clyro and original composition from Joe Rodwell.
The Seniors again qualified well for DCE after a 3rd place at DCUK Championships, this year finishing in 6th position.
The battery section was refurbished in the summer break and the Front Ensemble was replaced for DCE championships. Another significant improvement to the service Black Knights provides to its membership.
Thanks must be given to all involved in helping the improvements and developments Black Knights have seen since rebuilding in 2007. It is with much pride we look at what has been achieved and again excitement as to what 2012 will bring.

Cadets 2011
This year with our new Corps Director Paul Richards starting his first full season at the helm and with Gary Wooldridge re-appointed as Cadet Corps Co-ordinator, we had an exciting, challenging, but different cadet program. BYBA decided to hold the Championships in Cheshire on Sunday with school on the following day, so we didn’t compete on this circuit. The opportunity was taken to both concentrate on a good DCUK show and also perform at a greater number of local events. The music this year was based on the Disney Film Aladdin with music by A. Menken (he also wrote the scores for the Disney Films ‘Princess Pocahontas’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’) and featured the songs Prince Ali, A Whole New World, Friend Like Me and Arabian (K)nights again all arranged ‘in house’ by G.Wooldridge, V.Richards, P.Richards, L.Philips and J. Easter. With this show we achieved third place in DCUK junior Class Finals (only half a point behind the second place, and actually winning some captions!), for a Cadet corps competing above their class this was a very pleasing result. This year there was also the marriage of our Corps Director (Paul Richards) with our Youth Advisor (Lucy Philips).
